A cube

Obviously you will need a cube to start speedcubing. There are a ton of options for each category, with widely different price range and feels between them. Best sure to read/watch reviews of cubes you intrested.

With regards to 3x3, here are some

1. Price

You might think that the more expensive a cube is, and the better it will perform. In reality, that usually isn't correct. Ofc if you get a extremely cheap cube from a random dollar store, yeah it will be terrible. But a comp-viable cube can cost as low as just $8, and most flagships will go fo around $20 ~ $50. So don't be too temped to buy the most expensive one.

An example: You probably know that GAN cubes are always very expensive, sometimes going for more than $80. GAN cubes are also known for having a very specific turning feel, one where if you can't turn accurately, you will experience quite a few lock ups. Someone with a more rougher turning styles might be more inclined to something like Moyu's offering, which are reletively cheaper (excluding the Super Weilong/Aolong) and may fit their turnings better.
