That time I magnetized 3 cheap 3x3s
for experimentRemember when magnets were introduced in speedcubing? Back then you either have to add them yourself or get a custom one from your favorite store for a fortune. It's not like today where you can't find any cube that doesn't have magnets in it other than the absolute budget tiers. They put them in everything these days. NxNs as big as a 15x15? Here it is. Magnetic mirror blocks? You got it, with core magnets as a bonus! A god damn petaminx, surely something like this can't exist- oh wait it's real. With how many cubes you can get that has magnets in it, there aren't any reasons to magnetize a cube yourself right?
So umm... I put magnets in 3 cheap 3x3s
The subjects:
No 1. MFJS Meilong
"Hold on. You could've just get the magnetic one now." you say. Well when this was made it's not out yet, I was one step ahead alright.
This one I fell is the best of the bunch. The Meilong is already a pretty decent cube by itself,
No 2. YJ Guanlong V4/2022
Yep. A version 4 of the guanlong. For those who don't know, the guanlong was the cheapest cube you can get that isn't total trash. If you can't afford a zhanchi, weilong, or YJ's own yulong, getting this one can work pretty well even if it doesn't perform as well. The guanlong was quite a hit, and so YJ decided to improve this line throughout the years. The v2 is basically YJ shoving the then current flagship cube design into their $4 cube. It didn't perform that well, when cubes like the MF3RS were also on the market and has near-flagship performance. The v3 was, from what I tell, sorta a mix of the v1 and the qiyi sail.
And so, we come to the v4. This is an odd cube. From the packaging alone you could tell that this is one cheap cube. Thin plastic
No 3. Yuxin black kylin hollow
This one is a cube you might not have known for. This cube in one sentence: Yuxin decided to make an already budget cube even cheaper. As the name suggest, this cube has holes all over the pieces. The hollow pieces plus the cheap plastic make this probably the absolute cheapest cube I ever tried that isn't a crappy dollar store cube. Plus the performance isn't even all that great. It is light though, that's one compliment.
Adding magnets in this
